Functional Medicine is personalized medicine. Compared to allopathic medicine which is disease centered or follows sickness model, our approach is patient centered and has the wellness model as our goal. Allopathic medicine is great for acute care and for taking care of symptoms. A functional medicine approach, focuses on finding out the root cause of disease or the imbalances that are causing the symptoms. It takes into consideration balancing both the mind and body, based on a more detailed history, exam and more in depth testing. We know spending 15-20 minutes at every visit with you in the current model of health care is insufficient in addressing multiple problems, including reviewing of history and medications, exam and tests or recommending a diet or lifestyle change. This does not mean you should stop your medication! Never stop any medications unless your provider has recommended it. As you improve your symptoms during our treatment course (with diet and natural means), we will reduce your medications, as we keep your doctor informed so we can work as a team in your best interest. Functional medicine is complimentary to allopathic medicine which is why we do not recommend stopping any of your pills until under supervision you get better.
Functional medicine visits are at least 60-90 minutes on an average. Spending more time to get better results, and to ultimately reduce the burden of disease will benefit in the long run.
Using a scientific approach with each visit with functional medicine it is possible to reduce the burden of disease and medication over a period of time. It is easier to uncover the root causes of the imbalances and involves lifestyle changes including dietary changes, exercise, meditation, supplements if needed, that are specific for that individual as we know that one size does not fit all. No two patients with the same diagnosis will have the same treatment.
Our goal is to educate you and so we can work together as a team for the best possible outcomes. We charge $425 per hour and for consultation. Your first appointment is to understand your past medical conditions, medication review and cover your concerns, get a detailed history and look at how we can assist you in reaching a reasonable state of improved health and an assessment of the time period it may take. This is covered by your Flexible savings or Health Savings card. We do not bill insurances and do not offer any super bills.
For those of you that are healthy, we love to impart excellent preventive care so that you continue to improve your health both physically and mentally.
We have expanded our wellness to include wellness retreats ( now on hold due to COVID), detox programs, health coaching. We know that living in a fast zone has its own challenges and we hope to serve you better.
We know from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) that chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, cancer, strokes, Alzheimer's, autoimmune disease etc. are on the rise. Six in ten Americans live with at least one chronic illness and are also the main drivers of increase in health care spending besides causing pain, grief and loss of income to families as well as to the nation. Many of these are preventable with a healthy lifestyle and social support. Nearly one in two have high blood pressure. More than 34 million have diabetes and 1 in 4 don't even know they have it. Unfortunately, diabetes does cause long term end organ damage to the heart, kidney, eyes, nerves and other organs and contributes to loss of limbs due to amputations, strokes and other debilitating conditions.
It's time we took action to reduce the burden of disease and make ourselves healthier. For this reason, we are working on bringing up a few basic courses to teach you how to navigate in the current lifestyle we are now forced into. Subscribe to our email to keep getting updates email@example.com.
